Small Steps

I have done things today.

Not many things admittedly but compared to last week, when I basically went into meltdown and refused to come up from underneath my duvet, I have been most productive.

Well if spending hours reviewing a contract can be considered productive. Dear me, there's a reason why I'm not a lawyer. Do they really spend their days pondering over things like this. Tedious. I certainly don't enjoy details enough, big brush person that's me.

I have also booked both a flight and a train. In fact the contract reviewing and the travel booking have taken up most of my day. Why does booking travel take so long? First of all you have to look up all the different variations and permutations of airlines and timings and then, if you can't book a return with the same people (timing, people, timing is everything) you have to go through the rigmarole of two different websites. And there is of course a special place in hell reserved for cheap airlines who make you go through page after page of 'don't you want insurance', 'how about speedy seating' etc before they'll actually let you book.

Still I'm rather proud of the train thing. Bonn to London by train. And I don't think it's going to take that much longer door-to-door than flying, once you factor in having to get to the airport early and then ending up in the wilds of Cambridgeshire. And I get an hour or so in Brussels - that's time enough to buy some chocolate surely. Maybe even some frites.

Right, I must go to the greengrocer before the commuter hoardes descend on him. And hang up the laundry that was actually washed last night.
